TaylorMade was the surefire dominant golf equipment company of 2011, with the company’s white R11 driver becoming the talk of the industry. There are certainly other features of the R11 that separate it from the rest of the pack (Moveable Weight Technology, Adjustable Sole Plate, etc), but no question that its popularity primarily stemmed from its unique white color. Nearly all TaylorMade staff Tour players (and wow there are dozens out on Tour) began playing it immediately and dozens of other PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, European Tour and other non-TaylorMade staff pro’s made the switch as well. So, how could TaylorMade possibly top itself in 2012?
Well, TaylorMade is getting “Ballz.” Literally. Welcome in the 2012 TaylorMade RocketBallz Driver and Irons. We don’t know much yet on these new sticks other than that they’ll likely be released in either late January or early Februrary around the PGA Merchandise Show and that they are again white in color. We snatched a few pics from this article on My Golf Spy, so be sure to check out that link to see and read more.
My first thought is, that I was hoping that the name was just a rumor. But, no matter what it’s called, if it performs anywhere near as good as the R11, it’ll be a success. The initial pics (see below) look pretty slick. No word yet on pricing info. If you want to own a set of the irons, there’s already one on Ebay, click here.
We’ll be at the PGA Merchandise Show demo-ing all of the new equipment for 2012 and giving full reviews and feedback. Tough work I know, until then we’ll await more RocketBallz info (it’s ok, I just laughed at the name again too).
