Well, apparently the only person that can slow down the blazing hot Brandt Snedeker at the moment is….Brandt Snedeker. Following winning the SnedEx Cup last fall, Sneds picked up right where he left off in starting this season 3rd, t-23rd, t2nd and solo 2nd before winning last week at Pebble Beach. Now we find out that not only did he win, he won playing through the pain of a rib injury.
Apparently Sneds strained the rib during a practice round at the Humana Challenge and then re-aggravated the injury on Thursday at Pebble Beach. He had an X-ray on Monday in California and is awaiting results of that test. Snedeker is expected to miss three weeks because of the injury, including next week’s WGC-Match Play.
Sneds released a statement saying, “I certainly will miss competing in the Match Play and I really do appreciate what Accenture does to make that one of the premier events on our schedule. Sneds hopes to return in time for the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral in early March.
Last year, Sneds cracked a rib at the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town, then missed nearly three months while recovering. Let’s certainly hope this injury is not as serious this time around, as seeing anyone get injured in prime form is painful to watch, especially someone as likeable as Sneds.
How much more impressive is his start to the season now that we find out that he was playing injured? Wow. Who does this guy think he is, a white Adrian Peterson? (dominates, then announces injury later)
