Think of the last time that you were doing some online shopping and came across a product video. Did you watch it? Of course you did, you were curious. Well, you’re not alone. Videos jump off the page, are just begging to be clicked and are nearly impossible to ignore. According to Dr. James McQuivey of Forrester Research, “A minute of video is worth 1.8 million words.” Yowza, I have no idea where he came up with that prodigious of a number, but nevertheless you get the point. Video is an extremely powerful tool, and it’s taking over the web.
According to an August 2010 Comscore study, retail site visitors who view video stay two minutes longer on average and are 64% more likely to purchase than other site visitors. Those are staggering numbers meaning that not only are customers actually watching the videos, as evidenced by their average two minute longer on-site time, but they have a much higher conversion rate as well. So, given these impactful statistics, why wouldn’t every site be deep in videos?
While it might seem like a no-brainer for every site to start adding a bunch of videos to their site to increase its conversion, it’s not so simple. Videos take the right equipment and creativity to shoot and are very large files to post on a website. Currently, sites like PGATour.com, PGA.com, Masters.com and other full scale golf sites that have a high level of resources do an outstanding job with golf videos as you might expect. Each site offers live-streaming during its events and video highlights and interviews, amongst other offerings, but other than these industry leaders, there are only a handful of sites that do a good job of incorporating golf video. That’s where SDGolfTV comes in.
Our partnership with Vision Video Interactive (VVI) allows us access to the technology and equipment from a premier video editing and production company.
