So who’s the #1 player in the world of golf? If you pay attention to rankings, then you would probably say Martin Kaymer. Under him you would find Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, and Graeme McDowell. (Graeme had one heck of a season last year. He deserves to be toward the top.) And while all of these guys are good players, in the #5 spot you will find my idea for the best player in the world.

Tiger Woods is not only the best player in the game of golf, but he is also the one of the most talented athletes on the planet. He has been for years, and will continue to be for at least another decade. He is only thirty-five years old, and while that might be time for guys to retire in some sports, he has another ten to twelve years of highly competitive play left in him. Some guys don’t even hit their prime until their early forties. (How scary would that be if Tiger hasn’t even hit his prime yet?)

Tiger has not won a golf tournament in quite some time. But look what has happened since his last victory. There was the sex scandal and the divorce and the media parade that followed. Then throw in a new coach (who no one seems to like), a swing change, and the fact that he only plays a few tournaments a year, and that can all be expected. But what happens when he finds his swing again?

Tiger is not far from the top. The first few guys are shuffled around every couple of weeks. All Tiger needs to do is make a few more putts, throw a W on the board, and get back to the way things used to be. Things won’t ever be like they were when he first hit the PGA Tour… but they don’t need to be. His goal is to break Jack’s majors record. He will; it’s only a matter of time.

So if you are looking to find the world’s #1 player, look no further than Tiger Woods.
