I recently discovered a golf club manufacturer who you have probably never heard of – but you should!
Especially if you are interested in improving your wedge game.
SCOR Golf set out to create clubs to solve a little known issue in club manufacturing. Their concern is that within any set of golf clubs, even from well known companies, all of the clubs basically share the same low weighting design and the only thing that changes is the loft.
Unfortunately this design, appropriate for a 5 iron, is not useful in a PW. In fact, they used the “Iron Byron” to demonstrate how a traditional low weighting design negatively affects higher lofted scoring club performance from, even imperceptible, mishits. For average golfers these slight misses result in significant accuracy issues. Those accuracy issues will lead you will think that you simply made poor contact when maybe the reality is the fault of the club.
Their solution – progressive weighting. Simply put, they designed the weighting for each club independently to maximize performance. They didn’t just create one club style and change the loft. Every club is engineered with its own weight profile to deliver optimum trajectories, precise distance control and more forgiveness.
My only complaint about the SCOR Wedges is that I’ll probably have to give them back. After a few initial swings, it wasn’t long before it seemed like I could put the ball wherever I wanted. They provided excellent feel and I always felt I had complete control over ball flight and distance.
I was playing golf with my wife one evening when her approach shot fell short of the green. So I gave her an equivalent SCOR wedge and asked her to hit another golf ball. She took a few swings and then hit the golf ball right onto the green. She looked at me in amazement. That’s how a SCOR Wedge makes you feel.
Charles Dickens once said: “Take nothing on its looks; take everything on evidence. There is no better rule.” I am not sure he was a golfer, or if he was even thinking about golf equipment when he said it, but he was right! My evidence is that these SCOR wedges are amazing. You should give them a try!
