Getting help from an instructor or professional can really help your game, but what if you’re on the range without them? In this edition of Teaching with Technology, PGA Professional Todd Kolb shows how he can stay connected with his students across the country with a simple phone application, the Swing Catalyst app, and not even leave his own academy to do so.
Hey golfers, PGA Teaching Professional Todd Kolb here with another segment of Teaching with Technology. Today I’m talking about my Swing Catalyst system again, and I’m talking about the Swing Catalyst app that they have that allows me as a golf instructor to work with students no matter where they are at; because the reality of it is that you as a golfer are traveling and you’re playing in a lot of different places, but your golf instructor pretty much is at your home course or one specific area.
So here’s what we’re able to do. This is an example of a student of mine by the name of Tyler. Now Tyler had a question on his setup, specifically with his irons. So what he was able to do with his Swing Catalyst app is take video of his swing. And you’ll even notice with the advancements in phones and technology is that the quality of the video is excellent. He’s on the driving range, he sends it to me; I get it immediately here on my computer back at the academy.
I’m able to pull it up, put it in my Swing Catalyst app software, and make some notes—draw a couple lines, give him some feedback—and send that back to him so he can be standing on the driving range, once again listening to what I would suggest to him if he was with me here in person.
So one of the great things about technology—as a golf instructor—is not only does it allow me to help students when they’re with me, but it allows me to help them when they’re out traveling and they’re playing in tournaments, and they’re all over the country. Swing Catalyst app allows us to do that; this is just one example of how technology can help you play better golf.
